Drills

Drills are useful for mill and lathe work to drill holes into a workpiece. Tormach offers a variety of drill styles, including jobber, screw machine, spot, and center drills, in a variety of sizes, materials, and coatings. High Speed Steel (HSS) Drill Material: HHS drills are designed for a variety milling and lathe operations on most materials, including steel, at an economical price. Carbide Drill Material: Harder than HSS, carbide drills are designed for general operations on all materials. Tool Sizes: Select a tool size with projects in mind. The goal is always to have the least tool overhang as possible, so if it’s a small part, the shorter tools might be the best option. Coatings: Coatings are applied to cutting tools to add features to the cutting tool the metal of the tool does not provide, such as additional viscosity, strength, and heat resistance. They can also prolong tool life by reducing wear and tear to the tools.
