Tormach Announces New Speciality Workshop
Waunakee, WI, Aug 9, 2012 – Tormach, LLC, manufacturer of the PCNC 1100 and PCNC 770 personal CNC mills, announced today their first-ever specialty workshop, CNC for Knifemakers. The 3.5 day workshop is scheduled for November 6-9, 2012 and will be led by knifemaking experts John and Erik Grimsmo of Grimsmo Knives.
CNC for Knifemakers will give students practical experience in CNC programming, machine control, and machining. The hands-on specialty course is designed for CNC enthusiasts with a special interest in the craft of making high-end custom knives.
"As far as I know, this class is absolutely unique", noted Andy Grevstad, Applications Engineer for Tormach. "We know there is great interest from our customers in using CNC machines for knifemaking, but I have never seen this type of specialized course before.”
Costs for the class will include the raw materials to make one fixed blade hunting knife which students will get to keep at the end of the class. The knife, called The Tor, was designed specifically for the workshop by John Grimsmo.
John and Erik Grimsmo are co-hosts of the popular YouTube knifemaking series, Knifemaking Tuesdays. The series began in November of 2011 and features the CNC knifemaking techniques they use in the production of their line of custom knife handles and folding knives.
“John is a rising star in professional knifemaking,” said Grevstad, “as well as proponents of using CNC technology. As knife artists John and Erik are the perfect choice to lead the workshop. I think there is going to be a lot of excitement about this workshop, and Tormach is very pleased to be able to host the class at our modern CNC training center.”
CNC for Knifemakers will be held at the Tormach world headquarters in Waunakee, WI, just north of Madison. For a complete agenda and registration information on all upcoming workshop dates, visit www.tormach.com/workshops.
